Altar

Lyrics

(whispered) She's there... (breathy) ...waiting for me Door opens slow, low light inside She's on the bed like a reason to kneel Lace on skin, the whole room holds its breath I pull my shirt over my head She watches me from under heavy eyes (soft) That look alone could finish me I cross the room, find her lips in the dark (breathy) First kiss... long... no hurry I reach behind, unclip the lace (whispered) Easy now... Her bra falls slow, I lay her back Both wrists above her head (soft) Stay right there... don't move Lips to her neck... her collarbone... her chest Each one deliberate... unhurried... (breathy) She arches into me Down her ribs... her stomach... her navel... (soft) Right here... all mine You're my altar, I'm on my knees Kissin' you everywhere before you breathe Slow and holy, every inch divine Every curve of you — tonight you're mine (whispered) I raise her legs above my head (soft) Both hands holding her still... Slip the lace down slow... (breathy) From the ankle... (whispered) Inner calf... inner thigh... (soft) She's trembling everywhere (breathy) I kiss her there... open... deep... (ad-lib) Stay still... let me... Her fingers find my hair (ad-lib) Don't stop... God, don't stop... (whispered) I don't You're my altar, I'm on my knees Kissin' you everywhere before you breathe Slow and holy, every inch divine Every curve of you — tonight you're mine (building intensity) I rise up slow and she pulls me in Warm and open, I take her there Every stroke unhurried and deep Her moans start quiet... then start to climb (ad-lib) Right there... right there... The room fills up with everything we are She asks for harder, I give her more (ad-lib) All of it... take it... Her voice breaks open on the final wave (harmonized) All of you... all of me... We fall together... breathless... whole (whispered) She's in my arms... (soft) Her hair across my chest... (breathy) Her breathing... finally slowing... (warm) I hold her close (whispered) My lips on her forehead... (fading) Nowhere else to be... (echo) ...just here...
